Training with Scott was an absolute pleasure! He has an energetic passion for hockey that he brings every single lesson which made me want to learn what he was teaching. His program helped me progress my game to the next level & put me on the right path to play in the NHL! If you're looking to have fun & be a better skater then Science of Skating is the place to go!

I have had the pleasure of instructing with Scott Grover and the Science of Skating for the past 20 years. He has coached all ages and levels, from beginner to professional, helping countless young Barrie athletes to sharpen their skills. It has been a priviledge to watch him work. Scott has helped many athletes train and master the fundamental skills of skating, never compromisng the fun that he and his students share on the ice. His passion and dedication to his work is present in every training session and Barrie Hockey was better for it. From the many Barrie athletes who have become better skaters thanks to his instruction, I want to wish Scott all the best in B.C. Barrie's loss is Victorias gain. Good luck out west.

I have known Scott Grover since I could skate, which for me is most of my life. 20 years to be exact. I have known him as a teacher, employer, and a family friend. I have played hockey since I was 6 years old and up until I stopped playing, I relied on Scott to keep me in shape, tone my skills and push me to be better. I played hockey at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and then in Stockholm in the women’s Swedish pro league. I have had a lot of instructors, and coaches, but Scott will always stand out. He was tough, knowledgeable, kind and can make anyone laugh even when they can’t catch their breath. You knew whenever he said, “Get in the Athletic Position”, to hold your ground and stay low because you did not want to be the one to lose your stance. It was a privilege to be taught by Scott and instruct with him. In Barrie if someone mentioned they were in power skating you knew they were skating with Scott Grover. Victoria is lucky to have you and I want to thank you on behalf of all the skaters and hockey players you developed in Barrie!

I have known Scott for basically my whole life. As an official in the National Hockey League, skating is a top priority for my job. Scott taught us at a young age the proper fundamentals of skating. These lessons were instrumental in my development as an elite official and are something I draw upon throughout my NHL schedule.

Scouting reports stated that I needed to improve my skating, so Scott Grover of the Science of Skating was brought in to help me improve my speed skating technique. It’s the little things that make a big difference.

I have known Scott for a couple of years now and like so many others I was referred to him by happy clients who raved about his ability to teach kids the proper way to skate. Scott has worked with all three of my sons and has not only made them better skaters…..but has had fun with my boys while doing it! They always ask when they can go to Coach Scott again. He has an amazing ability to pick out what needs improvement, explain how to fix the problem and finally have the kids understand….then perform the correction needed. All while making the job fun for the kids. I am more than happy to recommend him to anyone and would like to say “Thanks” Scott for teaching my boys to love to skate.

As a professional hockey player who has spent 13 years split between Europe and North America I have seen two completely different styles of hockey. I have played both pre and post lockout and the one thing that has changed the most is the skating ability of today’s players. In today’s game, if you can’t skate you can’t play anymore. Regardless of how tough, or how good your hands are, the game has evolved into more of a skating game. Scott Grover is a great power skating coach that works well with professional players and kids love him! His background in figure skating gives him an advantage in teaching skating to any level of skater. Unfortunately as hockey payers we aren’t taught to skate properly. We are simply told to get out there and go. Scott has the knowledge and unique way of delivering that message that is both effective and fun.

Scott has been doing private lessons with me for basically three years. In this time my skating technique, power and endurance have greatly improved. Scott is a very motivational instructor that demands hard work. With the help of Scott I have been able to play at the PWHL level as well as earn a Division 1 scholarship to play for the Mercyhurst Lakers.

I have known Scott thru his program since the early 2000's when he instructed my eldest sons 98 born hockey team. Scott's passion and discipline are second to none, and that is why he currently does private instruction for a younger brother, 2004 born, who is now heading to play for Jr.A OJHL. Scott's knowledge experience and attention to detail, couple with his ability to hold skaters accountable to effort and technic have been a mainstay in his programs both with team and private skates. I highly recommend Scott for any age skater who has the desire to improve in many areas.

Scott Grover has worked with our Organization for 10 years. He is knowledgeable, energetic and professional. He is a joy to work with. He always runs a fun, high-paced ice session. Our players really enjoy working with Scott. He is able to get the most out of our players without them knowing it. This year we ran a First Shift Program and Scott took the lead with the skating portion of our program. This program introduces first time players to hockey. The participants in this program all made huge improvements in their skating. His program introduced the players to how fun and exciting hockey can be. We had nothing but compliments for Scott and his way of introducing these players to hockey from the parents in our First Shift Program. All the players were excited to come back each week and work with Scott. The same can be said from the other players at our organization he has worked with over the past 10 years. All the players enjoyed the time they spent on the ice with Scott. He worked the players hard, but his style of teaching made it feel like they were not working hard. There were lots of smiles when the players came off the ice, asking when Scott was going to be back.
